The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DevTee, including devtee.com, the DevTee web app, and the DevTee Mac desktop client (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Center Pixel, Inc. ("Center Pixel", "DevTee", "we", "us").
By creating an account, installing the desktop client, joining a Team, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using DevTee for a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" includes that organization.
Private beta
DevTee is an early private-beta product. Access may be manually approved, limited, suspended, or changed. Features may be incomplete, unavailable, inaccurate, or removed. We may change the Service, discontinue beta features, or stop providing the Service, with or without notice.
Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your login credentials and API tokens secure, and for activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account or token has been compromised.
The capture tradeoff
DevTee measures computer use. The Mac app can capture keystroke text, window titles, app context, mouse activity, device metadata, and liveness heartbeats. The Privacy Policy explains the current data collection in more detail.
You are responsible for deciding whether that tradeoff is acceptable for the machine, workplace, data, and people involved. Do not install or run DevTee unless you have the rights, permissions, and notices required for that use.
Authorized use and consent
You may only install or use the desktop client on machines you own or are authorized to monitor. You must tell anyone whose activity may be captured and obtain any consent required by law, contract, workplace policy, or platform rule. Do not use DevTee for secret surveillance, stalking, harassment, credential theft, or any unlawful monitoring.
Do not use DevTee to capture information you are not allowed to collect or share, including protected health information, payment card data, attorney-client communications, confidential third-party data, trade secrets, or material covered by another party's NDA, unless you have satisfied the requirements that apply to that data. Configure capture rules or pause DevTee before typing anything you do not want captured.
Teams
Team features are for collaborative use. If you invite someone to a Team, you are responsible for having authority to do so and for giving appropriate notice about how DevTee will be used. If you join a Team, Team owners, admins, and members may see information that DevTee makes visible to that Team. Do not join a Team unless you are comfortable with that visibility.
Your data and license to us
As between you and DevTee, you retain ownership of the content and activity data captured from your devices or submitted through your account ("User Data"). You grant DevTee a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, display, copy, and modify User Data as needed to provide, secure, support, maintain, and improve the Service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.
This license does not give DevTee ownership of your User Data. It also does not give us permission to sell your User Data, share it with data brokers or advertisers, or use captured activity to train general-purpose AI or third-party models. If that ever changes, we will ask you to opt in before using captured activity for training.
If you send feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation.
Fees
DevTee may be free during private beta. If we add paid plans or paid features, we will disclose the applicable fees before charging you. You are responsible for taxes and charges associated with purchases you choose to make.
Acceptable use
You may not misuse the Service. For example, you may not:
- Violate law, contracts, privacy rights, intellectual property rights, or platform rules.
- Access, tamper with, probe, or disrupt non-public areas of the Service or related systems.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where law allows it despite this restriction.
- Bypass limits, authentication, security controls, capture indicators, or technical protections.
- Use the Service to transmit malware, spam, deceptive content, or harmful instructions.
- Use another person's account, device, data, or identity without authorization.
- Use the Service in a way that materially harms the Service, other users, or Center Pixel.
Third-party services
The Service may rely on or link to third-party services, such as Google sign-in, analytics, hosting, email, release distribution, and error monitoring. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using DevTee at any time. You can request account closure by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for the Service or others, or if we stop offering the Service or a beta program.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including provisions about your responsibilities, our intellectual property, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity, governing law, and disputes.
Our intellectual property
DevTee, Center Pixel, the Service, software, designs, text, graphics, logos, and related technology are owned by Center Pixel or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service. You may use the Service only as allowed by these Terms.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, availability, accuracy, security, and reliability.
DevTee is not a compliance, legal, employment, security, or monitoring advice tool. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to use it in your environment and for reviewing any product output before relying on it.
Limitations of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Center Pixel and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business opportunity, loss of data, business interruption, or cost of substitute services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Center Pixel's total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim or $100.
Indemnity
If you use DevTee on behalf of an organization, or if your use of DevTee causes a third-party claim, you will defend and indemnify Center Pixel and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of the Service, your User Data, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where applicable law requires a different result. The state and federal courts located in San Francisco, California will have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes that are not required to be brought somewhere else by applicable law, and both sides consent to those courts.
Changes
We may update these Terms as DevTee changes. When we do, we will post the updated version here and update the date above. If a change is material, we may also notify you by email or in the Service. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
